Brandywine tomato, a large red, meaty tomato — some tomatoes weighing in at 1lb each! Large potato type leaves protect tomatoes from sunburn. Some of these tomatoes will split from sheer weight, some will be round, some will not. This is an heirloom tomato, one that your Grandma probably had on her dinner table. Said to have been introduced in the late 1880’s this tomato has been a favorite for over 100 years!
These are organic seeds that I processed from my largest tomatoes last summer. The seeds grow very fast! Seeds sprout in 7 - 10 days (see photo of sprouts) I start mine inside and transplant outside when last threat of frost has passed. Plants are hardy producers. Make sure you have sturdy supports for adult plants as the fruit is heavy and will weigh down the stems. This is a wonderful tomato, one of my favorites!
