Also known as : Totara Height : 30m Flowers : Male catkins, up to 1.5cm long, appear in March and April, and are solitary. The fruit is nut like and sits on the swollen peduncle or aril which becomes red and succulent as the fruit ripes during October - November. Description : Mature has a trunk diameter of 2 metres with a thick furrowed stringy bark. Totara is everygreen, coniferous, and dioecious with needle like leaves that are olive green, with fresh growth being a brighter green. Hardy. Germination : Cold stratify for 28 days, then sow. Contents : approx. 24 seeds.
