Juncus filiformis ‘Spiralis’
Juncus filiformis ‘Spiralis’- This is a curly-leaved form of a plant that’s commonly referred to as ‘Thread Rush’ or the “Unicorn Plant” which true to its common name is a rush. This perennial species (USDA Hardiness Zones 5 to 9*) seems to be one of the more worldly citizens being native to North America, Europe and Asia. It’s grown for the dramatically spiraled leaves that can reach a height of 1 to 2 feet and not for its insignificant flowers. In the garden it’s a useful plant for sunny, damp even aquatic settings and will eventually spread. It also makes a great house plant in a cool, yet sunny window.
