    Paraphalaenopsis Serpentilingua- “Serpent’s Tongue Orchid” This very small growing, almost dwarf Paraphalaenopsis is native to Borneo, found in seasonal swamp forests, partially shaded at elevations below 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing epiphyte or occasional lithophyte on moss covered rocks. A terete leafed species, like all Paraphalaenopsis, requires a warm climate and excellent drainage. The Serpentilingua like it warm and shaded but bright and moist—but not too wet. The Serpentilingua is the smallest of its genus, its common name is the “serpent orchid” or “serpents tongue”, due to its forked lip, midlobe of the labellum. They produce short inflorescences with up to six rather long-lasting fragrant flowers. They are interesting, unusual and BEAUTIFUL!!!Best grown in a small slotted pot or basket in an open media, but plants will also do well on a mount, treefern is ideal if available. Plants do not like to be wet, and must be protected if winters are cold. Plants will grow on natural cork if a little extra water is supplied. Best grown on the shady side until plants are well established, at which time extra light can be provided to promote flowering of larger plants. The Paraphalaenopsis Serpentilingua blooms in the spring on an erect inflorescence with up to 7 flowers. Each spike can measure up to 14″ long. Every inflorescence carries fragrant, long-lasting flowers held close together. Exotic ivory flowers with a light pink overlay and contrasting mahogany lips. Very unusual and attractive, always a conversation-starter when blooming! Colors: white, chocolate, pink, mahogany Light: Medium to high, but filtered light Temperature: Warm to high temperatures Water: Moist and humid, but make sure there is plenty of drainage. Water when media feels dry to the touch. Bloom Season: Spring and Summer, occasionally Fall. Buyer will receive one plant, mounted.
