    Col’s SUMMER ‘SAVOURY’ (approx. 245 fresh seeds) Summer Savoury is a great herb for those on a salt restricted diet because it provides some of the flavour-enhancing often provided by salt. Savoury blends well with many other herbs which makes it a favourite in the kitchen. Summer savoury (satureia hortensis), has a strong, sharpe and spicy taste. It is used primarily as a condiment. Great in a marinade, also good as an ingredient in stuffings, egg dishes, the list goes on, with beans, peas, sausages, in sauces, pickles, soups, meat loaf, hamburger, stews, with cabbage and tomato juice. Growing up to 18 inches tall, Summer Savoury prefers a light rich loamy soil and full sun. Summer Savoury is also an easy to grow container plant. Pinch the tops out at first to encourage bushiness. After that, cutting the flowering tops for use will promote further growth. Savoury dries quite well, simply hang upside-down in a well ventilated, dark place until dry. Strip the leaves etc. from the stems and store in a dark glass jar. Summer Savoury holds its flavour very well in storage. This is a very tasty herb and well worth growing. Sow in spring, Cool / Temperate; Sept.-Feb. Tropical. Terms & Conditions (PLEASE READ) Delivery will be via Australia Post.
