Adenium obesum ‘Fragrant Delight’, known as the Desert Rose, is actually a succulent member of the Oleander family. It originates in East Africa, from regions where it rains frequently in the summer, but is very dry in winter. The plant will grow 2-3 metres high in the wild but is more commonly seen as a container plant or bonsai specimen. Adenium obesum is potentially semi-evergreen: if kept warm and well watered, plants will grow and often flower through the winter. Under such conditions they undergo only a brief leaf-drop and dormancy, usually a few weeks in spring or early summer. They can also endure a drought or cold-induced dormancy of several months, which is the normal condition in nature. The plants develop a large swollen trunk with age. This is used in nature to store water to get them through dry times. The flowers on this variety are a pale pink base with swatches of dark pink down the centre of each petal. The flowers are slightly fragrant too. Flowers appear for two to four months; but some plants are nearly ever-blooming. Seed-grown plants are typically vigorous and can be flowering in as little as 8 to 12 months. Please Note: Even though these seeds were harvested from hand-pollinated plants, there is no guarantee that the flower colour of the seedlings will match that of the parent plant as pictured here. You could get an exact match, 50% variation or something quite different…that is how new varieties originate when propagating plants from seed. For sale is a packet of 10 fresh seeds. ALL SEED PACKAGES COME WITH A SET OF SEED PROPAGATION INSTRUCTIONS. If you still can’t find the you are looking for, click here to see all additional items on eBay…
